Better for Our Associations
As testament to our dedication to ensuring our accreditations demonstrate our full commitment to ensuring our clients can rely on our service, we have now upgraded our ISO and accreditations to those issued by UKAS. The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) is the sole national accreditation body recognised by the British government to assess the competence of organisations that provide certification, testing, inspection and calibration services.
British Institute of Cleaning Science
We are proud to be Corporate Members of the British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc), the largest independent, professional and educational body within the cleaning industry, with over 5,000 individual and corporate members. Its mission is both to raise the standards of education in the cleaning industry, and to build awareness, through professional standards and accredited training, thereby:
- Protecting the operative
- Providing a clean and safe environment
- Preserving assets
- Promoting sustainability
- Producing best practice
Total Clean is always among the first to adopt new standards and methodologies from the BICSc as they benefit our clients and therefore our business as a whole.
ISO Environmental Management Policy
THE ISO 14001 Environment Management System standard is an internationally recognised system for managing the immediate and long-term environmental impacts of an organisation’s products, services and processes. It provides a framework for environmental management best practice to help organisations:
- Reduce their environmental footprint
- Diminish the risk of pollution incidents
- Implement operational improvements
- Ensure compliance with relevant environmental legislation
- Develop their business in a sustainable manner
ISO Quality Management Policy
ISO 9001 provides a set of standardised requirements for a Quality Management System. Globally, over one million organisations are currently certified to this standard, meaning it is the leader not only in quality management systems, but within all management systems. The overall objective of the standard is to help companies meet statutory and regulatory requirements relating to the service while achieving excellence within their customer service and delivery.
UKAS 45001 Health & Safety Management System
UKAS 45001 is an ISO standard for management systems of occupational health and safety (OHS), published in March 2018. The goal of UKAS 45001 is the reduction of occupational injuries and diseases, including promoting and protecting physical and mental health. This helps businesses to:
- Identify and control health and safety risks
- Reduce the potential for accidents
- Aid legal compliance
- Improve overall performance
CO2 Balance
We complete an annual audit and a Greenhouse Gas audit report is generated, including a number of suggestions on how to reduce our impact. Total Clean is then certified as ‘CarbonZero’ for the next year, helping to cement us as an environmentally sustainable option to our clients, providing excellent care at no cost to the environment or our world’s ecosystems.
The Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS)
Total Clean has been assessed and approved by CHAS, thus demonstrating that we comply with the core criteria of health and safety law, and are approved to work for all CHAS buyers.
Infection Prevention Solutions
Total Clean has completed a Cleaning Partnership Programme with Infection Prevention Solutions, ensuring we fully understand the complexities of cleaning in different healthcare settings. Our cleaning operatives are trained by qualified Infection Control Nurses, providing them with the knowledge necessary to minimise the spread of infection through a healthcare environment. All our cleaning services and healthcare cleaning staff are monitored by Infection Control Cleaning Management on behalf of Infection Prevention Solutions, who undertake Environmental Cleanliness Audits and ATP swab testing at regular intervals.

Alcumus SafeContractor is a leading third party accreditation scheme which recognises extremely rigorous standards in health and safety management amongst contractors. It is used by thousands of organisations in the UK.

This will reassure all our clients of our recognition of our responsibilities in this area.
Cyber Essentials
Cyber Essentials is an effective, Government backed scheme that helps to protect organisations, whatever their size, against a whole range of the most common cyber attacks.
This helps businesses to:
- Reassure customers that you are working to secure your IT against potential cyber attacks
- Attract new business with the promise that you have cyber security measures in place
- Provides a clear picture of your organisation's cyber security level
Some Government contracts require Cyber Essentials certification and our possession of this accreditation assures potential clients that we are well protected and thus their information with us shall be secure as well.
